“Leather and Lark” is the second installment of “The Ruinous Love Trilogy” by Brynne Weaver. Weaver brings in just as much humor and spice in this book as she did the first. Yet another dark slow burn romance, but also an enemies to lovers situation. In this book we follow Sloane’s best friend , and popular singer, Lark Montague. Oh and did anyone mention she is also a serial killer?
Of course you are probably wondering “and what about the sexy man!?”. Well, that man happens to be the eldest of the Kane brothers, Lachlan (a.k.a. Budget Batman). Lachlan is a leatherworker by day and a contract killer by night. When someone’s targeting Larks family and is attempting to frame Lachlan, Lark suggests the only thing she can think of to keep Lachlan, his brothers, and her best friend Sloane safe - marry him and convince everyone that the two of them are in love.
Lachlan and Lark don’t have the most amicable relationship, but are now forced to rely on each other to stay alive. But as time progresses they both start to realize the facade they’ve created might just be more than that.
My thoughts:
While this is not my favorite book in the trilogy it was still great. I love me a sexy and brooding man. Brynne Weaver is able to connect the books in this trilogy so seamlessly and I love it. Of course there is smut and it’s muy caliente. I listened to the audiobook and let me just say I was SWEATING. 🥵
I do have to be transparent and let you guys know that I wasn’t foaming at the mouth like I was for B&B, but it was still a very enjoyable, witty, funny, and steamy read.
